July/August 2008
2008 has been an exciting year for Daufuskie Island.
The Beach Field community at Oak Ridge has begun the infrastructure work and is now in the marketing/selling phase for its lots and cottage homes near the Beach. These lots range from $140,000 to nearly a million. Cottage home and lot packages start in the $500's
Bloody Point is a beautiful community with just 18 homes right now. It is a palette that is being painted. The real estate opportunities there are tremendous. We have a beautiful one and one half acre oceanfront lot with perfect views and a setting that is second to none on the market for just under $1.4 million.
We have recently listed a terrific second row lot that has beautiful views toward the river and is directly on the 18th fairway of the Bloody point course at a price of $525,000.
The oceanfront homesites are 1 and 1/2 to 2 acres and the second row lots are at least a half acre.
Another new listing is a riverfront lot with a dock permit in hand. This is one of only four lots in the prestigeous Bloody Point community with rights to a private dock. This lot is right on the Mungen river and will have sunsets forever. It is listed at $995,000.
I have also just listed two lots in Cedar Cove, which is a small community within the gates of Haig Point but without the attendant costs. They can be sold separately or together. One lot is .68 acres and the other is 1.22 acres. Total of 1.9 acres would make a great estate home site.
A great Sandy Lane Villa that has never been rented and is in pristine condition is available. It comes fully furnished and is oceanfront and priced at $985,000 Over at Melrose , we have a beautiful oceanfront beach cottage on the market. This two-bedroom gem has been fully updated and it's rental potential is enormous. It brought in nearly $70,000 in rentals in 2007. (SOLD)
In Melrose we have an outstanding home right on the ocean and the 18th tee of the Melrose Jack Nicklaus signature course. 4/5 bedrooms, 5 baths and the most wonderful location and views in the resort. $2,495,000
Daufuskie Island Resort now has regular ferry service to and from Savannah. There are six trips per day in each direction. They stop at River Street in Savannah and come right to the island. It's great for those flying into and out of the Savannah/Hilton Head airport.
The island has some wonderful artisans and one of our own was featured in COASTAL LIVING. Chase Allen, who runs the Iron Fish Art shop on the island now has a website for his online business. Go to www.ironfishart.com and you will see some great things that are all one of a kind from this very talented young man. In November 2006 the Daufuskie Art Gallery opened housing several additional talented artisans.
Please don't miss the Silver Dew Pottery when you are on the island. Lancy and Emily Burn are wonderful people who know this island inside out and create the most beautiful signature pottery.
